Founded in 1997, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Ceremonial Guard began with a goal of providing visitation, funeral and burial services for deceased employees. With a handful of members, the first two divisions created and over the coming years growing into several units including the Honor Guard, Color Guard, Rifle Battery,
Bugle Corp, National Anthem Singers and the Pipes & Drums.
The SCSO Ceremonial Guard consists of members from Patrol, Fugitive, General Investigations Bureau, Emergency Services, Reserve and Communications, and as well as civilians who have a strong connection with public safety and want to give back to both the community and the men and women who give so much.
Our mission remains focused on honoring our fallen and providing service to the families of fallen men and women of public safety.
The primary objective of the Color Guard is to present the National, State and Local Colors at funerals, memorials and various ceremonies.
The primary objective of the Honor Guard is being assigned to various ceremonial duties including keeping watch over the casket at funerals, folding of the US Flag and more.
PIPES AND DRUMS.
The primary objective of the Pipes and Drums is to provide a musical accompaniment to the other divisions of the Ceremonial Guard at funerals, memorials and various ceremonies.
