Grace Under Pressure

Updated: Feb 20, 2019

In our first post we wanted to give a look into the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Ceremonial Guard. The title ‘Grace Under Pressure’ illustrates the standard held at all times

by our division even in difficult situations such as line of duty funerals. The SCSO Ceremonial Guard is made up of several units including the Honor Guard, Color Guard, Rifle Battery,

Bugle Corp, National Anthem Singers and the Pipes & Drums.

The SCSO Ceremonial Guard consists of members from Patrol, Fugitive, GIB, ES, Jail, Reserve, Communications, and even County Fire, as well as civilians who have a strong connection with public safety and want to give back to both the community and the men and women who give so much. The SCSO Ceremonial Guard is a unit whose main focus is to honor our fallen and provide service to the families of fallen men and women of public safety.

Our members have a passion for what they do and the community they serve. We have been ambassadors for the Sheriff's Office throughout the entire Mid-South, always ready to assist at a moment’s notice taking part in events, memorials, line of duty funerals and more. We have assisted agencies in our area from Arkansas, Mississippi and even middle Tennessee. We have worked hard to build a standard that well represents our department and are beginning to be recognized nationally for our efforts in promoting public safety. The last year has seen the creation of the expanded Ceremonial Guard including the Pipes & Drums and later this month will see the beginning it’s second annual recruit class. We hope this becomes a long standing tradition in the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and something everyone can be proud of.
